Prague - In the former brewery in Lochkov, Prague 5, instead of brewing beer, people will start to live there. 73 new apartments will be created. The development companies Euro Ventures and Itaka are investing 240 million crowns in the redevelopment of the site, they announced today in a press release.
"Our goal is to preserve as many original architectural elements as possible in accordance with modern architecture. We fully respect the historical character. Therefore, the brewery towers with brick chimneys, the dominant feature of the building and the location, will be sensitively renovated and will become the heart of the entire project," said the project's architect Alberto Di Stefano, who is also a co-owner of Itaka.
Construction is planned to begin in spring 2010, with an expected completion date at the end of 2011. The building permit for the project has already been issued and should gain legal force in the coming days. Financing for the project is provided by Česká spořitelna.
The company Euro Ventures was established in 2004. It specializes in the reconstruction of historical buildings, primarily in Prague. The owner of the company is the Cypriot company Evih Limited. The Itaka group has been operating in the Czech Republic since 1994. In the case of this company, the main focus of activity is also the redevelopment of historical buildings. The company is controlled by Italians Alberto Di Stefano and Eugenio Percossi.
