Workshop Trutnov 2016 - call for participation
Come to Trutnov from July 16 to 23, 2016, and during one week, breathe life into the local waterfront with your own designs!
Every city has areas allocated for technical infrastructure. In Trutnov, a well-used path for pedestrians and cyclists runs along the banks of the Úpa River. Until recently, it was separated from the river by a bulky steam pipeline, which is now buried and opens up a previously uninterrupted view of the water surface and access to it. Few people will take advantage of the opportunity to get closer to the river or just sit in the grass; most seem to have gotten used to walking by without stopping.
During one week in July, part of the waterfront will come alive with a workshop where new wooden furnishings or art installations will be created. It will be produced by architecture students in collaboration with locals and experts who will come to give lectures and consult on the emerging projects. In the first few days, students will familiarize themselves with the new environment and create designs that they will then physically produce in the remaining days. At the end of the workshop, there will be a ceremonial handover of the created objects to the city and a final concert. Locals can look forward to interesting lectures on public space and small architecture, but especially to witnessing the entire process of the students’ work from design to realization – all within one week directly on the waterfront.
The aim of the workshop is to provoke discussion among locals, stimulate interest, and enliven the waterfront in Trutnov with small 'interventions.' The course and results of the workshop will be presented along with other projects of Urban Interventions in Trutnov at a final exhibition, which will take place in October 2016.

ACCOMMODATION: provided, the main camp will be in the gym of Trutnov Grammar School with facilities and Wi-Fi, please bring sleeping bags
FEE: 700 CZK as a non-refundable deposit for meals (shared lunches on site), must be paid after email confirmation of the application
