Vyškov - Vyškov has a new zoning plan, which was approved by the councilors this week. The new document was required by the building law; however, it has not changed significantly from the previous zoning plan and respects the historical development of the town. The town does not have ambitions to expand into the open countryside but rather to develop areas that will make the current building more compact, stated Mayor Karel Goldemund (ČSSD) in a press release.

A significant change in the new zoning plan is the introduction of spatial regulations for construction in individual areas. The plan sets maximum areas for development and also the heights of buildings.
"Development is primarily tied to existing settlements, while the expansion of buildings into the open countryside is minimized. Buildable areas are mostly where they close off existing buildings to ensure compactness," the mayor stated. The concept of the plan aims to lead to effective and economical use of already existing networks and infrastructure, and the town will not have to spend additional money on new networks. The plan also prevents the connection of the town with surrounding settlements. "This concerns, for example, the local parts of Lhota, Hamiltony, and Opatovice," Goldemund added.
The zoning plan also provides for a sufficient reserve of areas for production, mainly linking to industrial zones. It also considers currently abandoned or improperly used sites.
The most significant intention in the area of sports facilities is the expansion of the current sports complex. To ensure adequate transport service, a new road and parking areas are planned. In the future, recreation around the Kačenec pond should also be developed.
The population of the town has been stable since the early 1990s. According to official census data, it remains stable at around 22,000.
