Vsetín - A new sports and recreation area will be created in Vsetín by renovating the local swimming pool near the industrial school. Work has already begun and will cost 40 million crowns, said city hall spokeswoman Jana Čadová today. The new area should serve the public next summer. The work began with the demolition of the original building and pool. "By the end of the year we want to complete as much construction work as possible, such as the shell construction of the new operational building or the foundations for the pools, using the original pool basin. However, everything mainly depends on the weather," said deputy mayor Stanislav Pavelec. The area will feature a modern 25-meter long pool with three lanes for fitness swimming, a separate relaxation zone, and various water features. There will also be a pool for the smallest children. A new multifunctional sports field for various sports and a building for the visitors and staff will be created. The city tried to obtain European subsidies for the project but was unsuccessful. It will therefore pay for it from its own budget. "The use of the necessary funds from the city's budget allowed for the acquisition of subsidies for other investment projects, such as sidewalk repairs or the construction of new parking spaces," said mayor Iveta Táborská. The site will be managed by Vsetínská sportovní s.r.o. The Vsetín city hall had allocated 150 million crowns for investments in the budget for this year.
