Prague - The government of Bohuslav Sobotka (CSSD) is preparing an amendment to the road law that will establish strategic constructions of national significance. The decision on which construction will receive this status will be made by a vote in the Chamber, and there will be no appeals against the construction. This was reported by today's Hospodářské noviny. The aim of the amendment is to ensure that the Czech Republic does not lose EU funding and does not delay the completion of transport infrastructure. The merger of building permit issuance under one office is also expected to bring acceleration and savings. According to the newspaper, second and third-class roads will not be classified as strategic constructions; for the others, the Road and Motorway Directorate will ask lawmakers to grant them exceptional status. According to the author of the law and MP from ANO, Martin Kolovratník, the investor must convince a majority of MPs, and the approved decision cannot be contested. Landowners through whose land the roads or highways will run would resolve any claims in court. The state intends to motivate landowners under the strategic construction - those who respond quickly will receive multiple times the regular market price. Otherwise, they will be expropriated at the market price, the newspaper stated. At the same time, strategic transport links will be considered as a single construction, and a single office will decide on them. It is still unknown whether it will be the Ministry of Transport.
