Prague - The government should decide on Wednesday whether the Czech Republic will participate in the World Expo 2010 in China. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed ČTK today that Prague has already received an invitation from the organizers. Expo 2010 will take place in Shanghai in three years.
If the ministers approve the Czech participation, a general commissioner will be chosen to oversee the event. It will also be up to the commissioner to present the project for the national presentation. The government will not yet address how much the Czech representation at the exhibition might cost.
The Czech Republic last presented itself at the World Expo in 2005 in Japan. The interactive Czech Garden of Music and Fantasy was seen by nearly 1.7 million visitors. The Czech pavilion was a relaxing space with optical and sound objects that visitors could touch and try out.
The exhibition was accompanied by a number of cultural events, including glass, film, visual arts, and music showcases. Regions also presented themselves. The government allocated 300 million crowns for the country's presentation at Expo 2005 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
