Prague - The winner of the tender for the company that will repair Šlechtova Restaurant in Stromovka is the construction and restoration firm Pracom. They offered the lowest amount of 101 million crowns excluding VAT. This was announced to journalists today by councilor Jan Wolf (KDU-ČSL/Trojkoalice). The anticipated price of the contract was set by the city at 169 million. Ten interested parties applied for the competition. Šlechtova Restaurant has long been deteriorating, and the city has postponed its renovation several times in the past.
"We firmly hope that the renovation will be carried out for this amount. There is currently a fifteen-day period for unsuccessful applicants to appeal. If no one appeals, the construction could be handed over to the contractor in early April,” said Wolf. After including VAT, the construction should amount to approximately 122.8 million crowns.
The work is expected to last around 16 months, with the reconstruction to be completed at the turn of August and September 2018. After the repairs are completed, the city will announce a tender for the operator.
The building will undergo a complete reconstruction. Inside, historical elements will be restored, including the ceiling fresco of Apollo with Venus and an artificial stalactite cave, where a statue of Poseidon used to be. The operation of the park should not be limited during the reconstruction.
Originally, the restoration of the monument was estimated to cost a quarter of a billion crowns. However, the costly project was tasked to be simplified by the architect. This will reduce the number of staircases, elevators, and sanitary facilities.
Šlechtova Restaurant, formerly known as Královská dvorana, is a cultural monument. It is named after its last owner Václav Šlecht. Its oldest part dates back to the end of the 17th century, but the building was completed in the mid-19th century.
