Velké Bílovice - Velké Bílovice in the Břeclav region are preparing to build a sports complex for 60 million crowns. On a two-and-a-half-hectare plot, there will be a sports hall, an outdoor court for ball sports, and several other specialized courts and facilities for leisure activities. According to mayor Marie Vlková, the complex is not only meant for local athletes but also for the many tourists who come to the largest wine village in Moravia, she told ČTK.

For tourists, there will be facilities such as an in-line skating track, an 18-hole mini-golf, a pétanque court, outdoor fitness, a skate park, a climbing park, and a playground. "Plans for such a complex have been in place for several years, but we had to deal with other matters. However, many tourists come to us, and we want to offer them leisure activities when they are not going on an excursion," said Vlková.

The outdoor section is expected to start development next year, while the hall will be constructed in the second phase depending on funding and the success of grant applications. "So far, we have not explored the possibilities of subsidies. We would like to receive something from the Ministry of Education, as the complex is near a primary school and will partially serve it," said Vlková. The outdoor courts are estimated to cost between 16 and 20 million crowns, and the municipality is prepared to gradually finance them from its own budget. The outdoor multifunctional court is intended to be used similarly to the indoor court for handball, futsal, floorball, tennis, or basketball. The complex will also include a restaurant and other facilities for visitors.

With a population of 4,000, Velké Bílovice is one of the centers of wine tourism in southern Moravia. To the northeast of the village are vineyards and other wine villages, while in the opposite direction lies the Lednice-Valtice area.
