Velvary (Kladensko) - A brewery and cultural center will be created in the former Velvary hotel Záložna, the city plans to renovate the building in the coming years. The hotel will also serve as accommodation once again after a long time. Several architects are currently working on the hotel renovation study. The city wants to obtain grants for this, and additional funds are gradually being saved from the budget. Velvary Mayor Radim Wolák told ČTK. According to the city's leadership, as many local residents and interest institutions as possible should express their opinions on the final form of the project.

The building was acquired by a private company from the last owner, which is based in Velvary. They offered to sell it to the city for a symbolic price. The reconstruction will cost up to several tens of millions of crowns. "We have six million crowns for investments in the budget each year," said the mayor. The city is currently operating with a budget of around sixty million crowns. In addition to grants, a loan is also one of the options for implementing the plans.

The hotel has a cultural hall, where sales events are currently held, for example. The surrounding rooms are also in poor condition. The hall should again serve for organizing cultural events, and new spaces will be created for local associations and possibly for social workers as well. Recently, the city organized a debate in the hall, where residents could express what they would like most in the renovated hotel.

The spaces will also be used by Velvary firefighters, who are the oldest volunteer fire brigade in the Czech Republic, for hosting balls and other events.
