Warsaw has the tallest skyscraper in the EU, measuring over 310 meters

Warsaw - The Varso Tower skyscraper in the Polish capital has become the tallest building of its kind in the European Union. Developer HB Reavis announced that after workers installed the 80-meter spire, the total height of the building exceeds 310 meters. The skyscraper is set to open in early 2022.

Varso Tower is now taller than London's Shard and Frankfurt's Commerzbank Tower. According to the plans, it will have a special observation deck and two glass elevators that will transport guests at a speed of eight meters per second. In addition to office space, there will also be a restaurant and bar at the top with a view of the center of Warsaw. The project was designed by the British firm Foster + Partners.

However, due to the spread of the COVID-19 disease, construction and leasing of spaces have slowed down or been put on hold. "Like the entire economy, leasing office spaces had a tough time last year," said project manager Maciej Olczyk. He added that many potential tenants have paused or delayed their decisions. The building has also undergone modifications aimed at improving workplace safety. These include additional ventilation for office spaces and more frequent cleaning of ventilation systems, protective screens at reception desks, contactless solutions, and motion sensors for lights and doors, reported Reuters.
