Valašské Meziříčí - The town of Valašské Meziříčí has specified its requirements for a new sports hall, which is to be built on the site of the former barracks. The construction of the facility is expected to cost about 60 million crowns, said Renata Votrubová, a spokesperson for the town hall, today to ČTK. According to Mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO), this is one of the city's priorities.

"The working group for the construction of the sports hall has presented the basic requirements for preparing the assignment of the sports hall to the city council. The council approved the specifications for the facility and agreed on the assignment for selecting the contractor for the project documentation,"
the spokesperson stated.

The hall will serve basketball, floorball, handball, volleyball, and other sports. "This will expand the sporting opportunities for youth and adult training. There will also be a climbing wall. The hall will serve sports clubs, the public, and schools," the mayor stated.

"Together with the working group, we have prepared the basic requirements for the assignment. All criteria have also been thoroughly discussed with representatives of sports clubs and experts in the construction of sports facilities," Stržínek said. According to him, the hall should have a sufficient number of changing rooms and showers, storage for sports equipment, and other technical facilities. "Emphasis should also be placed on quality lighting and acoustics. The new sports hall should accommodate 350 seated spectators," the mayor stated.

The hall is to be built on the site of the former cinder pitch on Železničního vojska street between the buildings of the employment office and the fire rescue service. The city has been addressing the construction of the missing hall for two electoral terms.

Valašské Meziříčí, with 23,000 inhabitants, expects to manage revenues of 409 million crowns and expenditures of 488 million crowns this year. The difference will be covered by the balances in bank accounts, and nearly 142 million crowns will be allocated for investments, which is 28 million more than last year.
