Valašské Meziříčí (Vsetín Region) - Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín Region has begun constructing a new parking lot on Palackého Street. By the end of October, 108 spaces should be available; plans for the future include building more parking spaces, with a total of over 300 expected to be created in this area, spokesperson for the Valašské Meziříčí city hall Renata Votrubová reported today.

The city hall has allocated 6.5 million crowns in its budget for the construction of the first and second phases of the parking lot. "The parking lot at Vyhlídka is very important for several reasons. There is an absolute shortage of parking spaces in the housing estate. Right now, it’s not just about securing parking for residents, but I also see it as an important safety element. If anything were to happen, at this moment there is no chance for an ambulance, let alone fire trucks, to access some parts of this housing estate," stated Mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO).

The city is also continuing the regeneration of the panel housing estate Křižná and is repairing sidewalks. "The repair of the sidewalk on Králova Street is next, where a total of 450 square meters will be repaired. The old asphalt surface will be replaced with paving stones," the spokesperson added. The street lighting will also be improved.

At the end of June, the city will begin repairing school buildings. The renovation includes upgrading the lighting at the Štěpánov and Podlesí kindergartens, replacing water distribution systems at the Vyhlídka kindergarten, insulating the Žerotínova primary school, and repairing the sewage system at the Křižná primary school. The city will spend 21 million crowns on the repairs of school buildings.

The city of 22,000 residents is managing revenues of 409 million crowns and expenditures of 488 million crowns this year. The difference will be covered by the balances in bank accounts. Nearly 142 million crowns are earmarked for investment, which is 28 million more than last year.
