Valašské Klobouky have started to reconstruct the municipal swimming pool area

Valašské Klobouky - Valašské Klobouky in the Zlín region have started reconstructing the municipal swimming pool area. The modernization will cost 45 million crowns. The old concrete pools will be replaced with stainless steel tanks, where swimmers can expect water at a consistently pleasant temperature thanks to modern technologies, said city hall spokesperson Lenka Zvonková today. The reconstruction will be completed by the next season.

"The reconstruction of the municipal swimming pool has been planned repeatedly over the years, but since it was not possible to obtain any grant support at that time, larger modernization was always set aside due to financial costs, and operations were maintained only with the most necessary repairs. However, both the technology and the pools have already exceeded their lifespan," stated mayor Josef Bělaška (BEZPP, for Klobučné together).

The operation and repair of the pool cost almost seven million crowns from 2016 to 2023. "Of which 1.7 million we had to spend just last year. We were therefore faced with the question of whether to embark on the reconstruction with our own funds or completely close the pool within a year or two. The council opted for the first option, and so we can look forward to quality facilities for summer enjoyment by the water in Valašské Klobouky," said the mayor.

The reconstructed swimming pool will feature two stainless steel pools, a main swimming pool and a children's training pool with a splash area. There will also be water play elements and a slide. "A heat pump will be used to heat the water and maintain its constant temperature. On the other hand, we will also manage the runoff water, which will go through dechlorination in a special unit and will be used for irrigating green areas," said Radek Bařinka, head of the investment and strategic development department. The water treatment technology will be stored in a separate building, and there will be storage tanks for pumps near the pools. A pergola will be built by the children's splash area.

"Given the flash floods that have affected the locality of the swimming pool, we are also working with designers to incorporate flood protection measures. The technology will be sufficiently elevated above the ground, for example. In the area above the swimming pool, we have already doubled the capacity of dry retention basins on the right side of the flow and are considering the possibility of another basin for the left branch," said the mayor.
