Prostějov - The train station in Šumperk will be presented to passengers next year in a new form. Last year, Czech Railways completed the project and paid three million crowns for the preparatory work. This year, they are counting on an investment of 28 million crowns, and next year, work worth approximately 20 million crowns should be carried out. Václav John, the chief director of the Transport Infrastructure Administration of Olomouc, said this today in Prostějov.

"Modifications to the roof and downspouts have already begun in the dispatch building. The last major renovations took place in the 1940s," John noted. According to him, the departure hall will be affected by changes. In the vestibule, spaces for commercial use, a waiting room for passengers, and a new ČD center will be created. A new information system and adaptations for the disabled, including barrier-free access, are also planned.
According to John, the reconstruction of the station in Jeseník is also in the preparatory phase. "We are at the project preparation stage. The station there will undergo changes similar to those we are implementing in other cities. For example, Czech Railways are releasing spaces and offering them for commercial use," John added.
In the Olomouc region, Czech Railways completed the reconstruction of the station in Prostějov this year. The restoration of the station in Zábřeh on the Šumperk region will also be completed this year, along with the construction of an underpass from the Olomouc main station to the city district of Hodolany for about 70 million crowns. In collaboration with the Olomouc region, modifications will also be made at 18 railway crossings in the area.
