Rakovnik - Today, a transport terminal was opened in Rakovník for nearly 23 million crowns, which will provide the necessary facilities and better orientation for arrivals and departures of buses. Approximately 18 million crowns of the invested amount will be reimbursed to Rakovník through a grant from the European Joint Regional Operational Program.

"This is the first project in Rakovník financed in this way. I hope we will receive the funds this year and incorporate them into the city's budget," said the mayor of Rakovník, Zdeněk Nejdl, to ČTK.
The reconstruction of the bus station in Rakovník, built in the 1970s, began in July of last year. In 2005, the city invested 12 million crowns here. According to the mayor, the city did not need to take out a bridging loan, but used the surplus from the budget.
In the area of the Rakovník bus station, whose area was slightly reduced due to the planned expansion of a nearby sports hall, a modern transport terminal has been created. It includes a digital information system, new benches, and 22 new platforms.
The reconstruction of the station took place during operation, which was only limited due to the construction. Approximately 90,000 connections arrive at and depart from the Rakovník bus station each year. The safety and order of passengers are monitored by the municipal police with the help of five surveillance cameras.
The transport terminal was completed a month ahead of the planned deadline, despite initially experiencing delays in construction. Due to an error by the Wallet company, which was supposed to conduct the public tender for the construction supplier, the city had to issue a new tender to avoid jeopardizing the possibility of accessing grants from European Union funds. The Wallet company incorrectly entered the total value of the project when submitting the tender to the so-called central address, which collects public tenders on the internet. As a result, interested parties could officially submit bids for work at only a tenth of the planned price.
This year, the budget of the fifteen-thousand-strong Rakovník is in deficit. Revenues are expected to reach 293 million crowns, while expenditures will exceed 360 million crowns. To cover the deficits, the city plans to use a surplus from last year's budget of 24 million crowns and grants.
