Prague - On Friday, two new footbridges will be ceremoniously opened in the Prague district of Radotín. The first is located in the center of the district between Osvoboditelů Square and the train station, and the second spans the Berounka River and will serve pedestrians and cyclists. This information was provided to ČTK by the spokesperson for Prague 16, Jana Hejrová. The construction of both footbridges was funded by the capital city and totaled several tens of millions of crowns.
The first footbridge, made of steel, connects the area of Osvoboditelů Square, the modernized train station with an underpass under the railway tracks, the educational complex, sports facilities, and a relaxation zone. "The footbridge was created as a replacement for the closed railway crossing and is a rerouting of the A11 bike path. It will have a fundamentally positive impact on the smooth and safe access of Radotín children to the school area," stated the spokesperson. According to earlier information, it cost more than 30 million crowns.
In the second case, the footbridge over the Berounka will serve as a significant connector between Radotín, Zbraslav, and Lipence. The new structure replaced the original footbridge that was damaged by floods and was in very poor condition. The footbridge is suspended on a single pylon, which is pivotally mounted on the upper chord of the truss structure. The co-author of the bridge is architect Josef Pleskot, and according to earlier information, it was estimated to cost about 70 million crowns.
The district of Prague 16 consists of the cadastral area of Radotín. It is situated on the left bank of the Berounka River near the confluence with the Vltava River on the southwestern edge of Prague.
