Mladá Boleslav

Mladá Boleslav - The long-awaited construction of a bridge over the Jizera River to Čejetice will begin in Mladá Boleslav for 65 million crowns. The city has been granted an extension for drawing the subsidy for the construction until the end of next year, said the mayor Raduan Nwelati (ODS) at a press conference today. The construction should be completed by the end of next summer.

The construction of the bridge has been delayed due to the repeated appeals by the company that placed second in the tender. Therefore, the city negotiated an extension of the subsidy drawing period until the end of next year. "We are now being held back by the weather, so we will only be doing work that can be carried out during the winter. For example, the demolition of two houses in front of the viaduct," said Nwelati, according to whom the necessary construction proceedings are currently underway.
The total costs for the construction of the bridge are approximately 65 million crowns, of which about 48 million will be covered by a state subsidy, while the remaining 17 to 18 million crowns will be paid by the city from its budget. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of next summer.
The new bridge will improve access to the suburban area of Čejetice and to the Škoda Auto development center. It is to be built next to the current, too-narrow bridge downstream of the river. The old bridge will then be dismantled. The two-lane bridge will be one hundred meters long, and part of the investment will include the construction of sidewalks, a bike path, and connecting road sections on both sides of the bridge. During the construction of the bridge to Čejetice, the old bridge should be used for traffic.
