HRANICE (Přerovsko) - Residents of Hranice in the Přerov region should be able to swim in a new pool next autumn. The local municipality has started the construction of the facility, valued at 112 million crowns. The city has been considering building a swimming complex for a quarter of a century. The residents prioritized the pool over the construction of an ice rink in a public survey. "The construction of a pool is very necessary in the city. As far as I remember, there has been a discussion about the need for such a facility in Hranice for a quarter of a century. In fact, there was already a study from the eighties, and then it was forgotten," said Mayor Vladimír Juračka today to ČTK. The municipality is preparing a significant investment in collaboration with the residents. "We responded to the social demand. We have continuously consulted the entire preparation of the pool with the public. Citizens even chose between two study variants," the mayor mentioned. The swimming complex will be built on the site of the current inadequate swimming area. The tender was won by the company VOKD from Ostrava, which received an award in the Pool of the Year competition for the reconstruction of the Havířov swimming pool into an aquapark. "For the construction of a covered 25-meter long pool, it will be necessary to demolish the existing pools. The pool hall will be maximally glazed with an outdoor façade as well as into the interior. The entertainment section of the pool includes a current channel, massage benches, massage loungers, floor and wall massages, water jets, air bubbles, a wave pool, and other attractions," said representatives of the company. The pool hall will also feature a 100-meter long outdoor enclosed waterslide with an indoor run-out. The investor and operator of the pool will be the Ekoltes company, which is wholly owned by the city. Due to the construction, the municipality will increase the company's share capital by 50 million crowns and the city will also guarantee a loan for it. "We will also contribute to the operational losses, which are estimated at around two million crowns per year," the mayor added. According to city representatives, the new swimming pool will have a capacity of about 300 people.
