Hostyálková (Vsetín Region) - In the Hostýn Hills near Troják stands the new observation tower Maruška. It was built by the residents of the village of Hošťálková in the Vsetín area. The sixteen-meter high viewing tower will serve not only as an observation tower but also as a meteorological facility of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. Zdeněk Urbanovský from the East Moravia Tourism Center said this today to ČTK.
The hill Maruška is located 664 meters above sea level. The two-storey wooden observation tower was built next to a meteorological station. The owner of the tower is Hošťálková. According to Mayor Petr Laštovica, the goal of the project is to increase the attractiveness of the touristy sought-after Hostýn Magisterium, which stretches along the entire main ridge between Hostýn, Troják, and Lázy, but also to provide local children and youth with a means to learn about nature and meteorology.
The output from the measurements will be presented to visitors on a light banner. In nice weather, one can see the Radhošť massif and Lysá Hora in the Beskids to the northeast from Maruška, with Martinské hole and the Low Tatras in the background. To the south, there is a view into Hošťálková and the Vizovické Hills. "To the southwest, you can recognize the transmitter on Tlustá Hora near Zlín. The view to the northwest is capped by the Kelčský Javorník massif, which is the highest point of the mountain range," said Urbanovský.
The Hostýn Hills are threaded with trails for hiking and cycling, and in winter, they are used by cross-country skiers. Skiers can take advantage of the offerings of ski resorts. Maruška, which will be ceremonially opened on Sunday, is not the only observation tower in the Hostýn Hills. The oldest is the stone observation tower on Hostýn, while wooden viewpoints are located on Kunovická Hůrka, at the U Holáňů restaurant on Prženské paseky and above Jarcová near Valašské Meziříčí.
