In Desná, an eco-village will be created with homes that do not require energy

DESNÁ (Jablonecko) - A demonstration eco-village with at least ten houses, whose operation requires practically no energy, will be created within two years in Desná in the Jablonec region. "We will build the first one right after winter. Moreover, we want to produce ecological houses here," said Bio Solar Haus CZ's executive director, Nebojša Djukič, today to ČTK.
According to the mayor of Desná, Marek Pietr, the city has chosen the southeastern slope of Sokolská for the new development. The municipality will sell the land in this area to the investor at a discounted price. In Desná, according to him, complete houses will not be manufactured, but primarily sub-supplies made of wood. "This is an opportunity for local timber companies and carpenters," he added, stating that the city aims to sign a contract with Bio Solar Haus CZ later this year.
According to Djukič, bio-solar houses are mainly made from waste materials. One square meter of living space in them costs approximately 16,000 crowns, which is about ten percent less than for other wooden constructions. "We will manufacture the houses from domestic raw materials, but we also count on exporting them, mainly to Germany," he noted. The annual production is expected to be around 100 houses. The demonstration settlement in Desná will also feature a modern design, on which renowned architects will be involved.
Bio-solar houses were devised in Germany, and the company has received several awards for them. They have a double structure that allows for the production of thermal energy for heating and hot water. The outer house is partially glazed and naturally ventilated. The house utilizes the greenhouse effect, with sunlight heating the walls of the inner house. The demand for houses with low energy consumption is increasing, particularly due to the constant rise in gas and electricity prices.
