Havlíčkův Brod - Five apartment buildings with 78 high-standard apartments have been completed in the former military barracks in Havlíčkův Brod. The company Ross Holding, which owns the entire area in Čechovka, built them for 180 million crowns. Interest in the apartments has slowed due to the economic crisis, and about a quarter have been sold so far, said the company's spokesperson Zdena Stryková today. Due to the crisis, the company's plans to convert former military buildings into a hotel and conference center have been put on hold. The project for a new residential area called Villa Park Čechovka, designed by the studio of humpolecký architect Luďek Rýzner, was created during a time of great demand for housing. It includes a total of eight apartment buildings with 113 high-standard apartments featuring spacious terraces and underground garages. The continuation of construction will depend on the development of the real estate market. "It definitely won't happen this year," Stryková said. In the former barracks of Karel Havlíček Borovský, offices and accommodation are currently being used. A club called Čechovka operates in the cultural center - around 10,000 people visited concerts and theater performances last year. Two logistics halls have also recently been built in the complex. A hotel with a pool is expected to be created by converting the accommodation building, and a conference center is planned from the cultural center and the adjacent administrative building. Ross wanted to obtain European grants for both projects, which have total costs exceeding 200 million crowns. "Due to the crisis, we postponed it. With the slowdown in apartment sales, we currently lack our own capital for these projects," Stryková said. In Brod, the economic crisis has also slowed down the sale of land for business in the second former military barracks near the airport, which now belongs to the city. While three years ago the town hall had to reject dozens of applicants, it couldn't find suitable buyers for the remaining seven parcels last year. Some serious investors withdrew from the investment citing the inability to secure a loan.
