In Brno, the reconstructed Rondo hall was ceremonially opened

Brno - In Brno today, the ceremonial unveiling of the foundation stone symbolically opened the Rondo hall, which underwent reconstruction costing 400 million CZK. The hall served the extraleague ice hockey team Brno Kometa even during the renovations, and this evening the players are starting the new season with a match against Třinec. The foundation stone of the hall was laid by builders in 1972 at the site of an open ice rink.
    "This is truly a small dot at the end of a big reconstruction of the Rondo hall," said Brno mayor Roman Onderka. The city financed the renovation of the hall in two phases.
    During the reconstruction, the engineering networks, including the sewer system, were completely repaired and replaced. Additionally, craftsmen replaced the building's technological equipment, installed new air conditioning, and reconstructed all the facilities, including changing rooms and V.I.P. areas. The steel structure was newly painted, and the acoustic ceilings were entirely replaced. New accommodation facilities, which were previously lacking, were added for athletes and performers. The new lifts also represent a significant improvement.
    After the reconstruction, the Brno hall still has the same spectator capacity of 7,200 seats, including 4,200 seats. It mainly hosts home games of Kometa Brno in the extraleague of ice hockey, which are among the most attended in the nationwide comparison. Repairs began last summer and continued during the hockey season. Builders and hockey players had to adapt to each other.
    According to the architect of the hall, Ivan Ruller, the city embarked on the renovation at just the right time. "At one point, the deterioration of the hall coincided with the need to create an environment for hockey in Brno, which is experiencing a certain renaissance," Ruller noted. He stated that the social facilities of the building and the refreshments for the spectators were particularly disastrous. "The hall finally has everything it needs. The investment costs were, in my opinion, acceptable," Ruller stated.
