Blansko – Blansko has started the renovation of another part of the castle complex, specifically the dilapidated building designated as Castle 3. After reconstruction, it will be used by the Blansko Museum and the Blansko Conservatory. The work is expected to cost around 12.5 million crowns, with a multi-million grant from the South Moravian Region. The municipality announced this on its website.
Workers have already removed the roof covering and trusses, leaving only the outer walls of the structure. The new truss will be leveled with neighboring buildings. Direct entrances will connect it to them. The facade will be in harmony with the already repaired buildings of the outer castle and the main castle building itself.
"Part of the building will be used by the Blansko Conservatory as ceramics workshops and art studios. The Blansko Museum will have new storage facilities in the building, and the administrative support will also move here from the castle," said Petra Skotáková, head of the city administration and development department.
Experts from the Blansko Museum also moved into the neighboring building, Castle 2, last year. They use it for conservation and restoration workshops and storage. This has freed up space in the main castle, which the museum will utilize for exhibitions and displays.
"The trend we agreed upon with the management of the Blansko Museum a few years ago continues – that the main castle building should be dedicated solely to exhibitions, while operational spaces, specialist workplaces, and the management's facilities should be moved to other premises," stated Petr Fedor, head of the regional department of culture and heritage care.
Part of the investment is to be covered by the South Moravian Region. "We are happy to support activities at the regional level where we intersect with the city. Therefore, we will seek funds for the project to renovate Castle 3, and I firmly believe we will manage to secure them. We should discuss specific amounts in the middle of the year when decisions about tax surpluses should be made," said František Lukl (STAN), regional councilor for culture, heritage care, and tourism.
In the past, the city has successfully renovated the castle building, including the courtyard and part of the outer castle. Last year, the renovation of the neighboring building Castle 2 was completed.
