The Prague zoning plan is being reviewed by the police

Prague - The new territorial plan of the capital, the preparation of which was halted by Prague's representatives this month, is being investigated by the police. A criminal complaint related to the drafting of the plan was allegedly received by the Ostrava police. This was reported today by the news portal iHned.cz, citing information from Hospodářské noviny. According to previous statements from city officials, the planned project could have provided a room for corruption.
According to the portal, detectives will likely be investigating whether someone could have offered bribes during earlier planning to gain approval for construction in certain areas. However, the police do not want to comment at this time.
The city hall also wants to investigate some planned changes to the territorial plan; according to the portal, an audit of about 240 areas is being prepared, which developers sought to use differently from the territorial plan. The results are expected in the fall.
The preparation of the new territorial plan was halted by the Prague council at the beginning of June. The representatives also approved that the city would start preparing a so-called metropolitan territorial plan, which is intended to be simpler and more stable.
