PLZEŇ - The Construction Department of the city of Plzeň, the largest investor in the regional city, plans construction projects worth 583 million crowns for next year, a quarter more than this year. The decisive project, which will account for about a fifth of investment expenditures, will be new constructions on the newly initiated corridor Prague-Plzeň-Cheb, which will begin construction on the first section Plzeň-Stříbro. This was stated by the economic deputy mayor Vladimír Duchek to ČTK.

Next year, construction projects already underway will account for over 390 million CZK, and the remainder will be new projects. The largest portion of the overall investments of the department, 450 million crowns, is represented by permanent transportation constructions. Of this, 305 million crowns will go to ongoing projects.
"For the Plzeň corridor constructions, we have allocated 120 out of 182 million crowns that we will spend on the project next year," said deputy mayor Petr Náhlík. The winning contractor for the corridor, whose investor is the state company Správa železniční dopravní cesty, is currently being considered by the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS). "If the ÚOHS decides to announce a new tender, we will easily transfer the money to other areas," Náhlík added.
The reconstruction of Borská street will continue, which will consume more than 80 million crowns, while the repair of Francouzská will cost 74 million CZK. The renewal of the surface and networks in the central Republic Square will require a total of 75 million crowns next year, while the footbridge over the reservoir in Českém údolí will cost 25 million. The completion of Částková street will amount to 13 million and the bike path to Třemošná will cost ten million crowns.
Plzeň will invest 46 million crowns into the construction of a new sports hall next to the current municipal hall Lokomotiva in Slovany, which is half of the total budget for the project. "At the same time, we will solve the traffic situation between the pool and the hall," stated Náhlík. Six million crowns will go towards the establishment of the newest (tenth) city district Lhota. The city hall has allocated 25 million for land acquisitions for investments and, for the very first time, the budget includes 15 million crowns for the implementation of flood protection constructions.
