Uherský Brod - The Uherský Brod Town Hall is preparing repairs and insulation of the roof of the local Cultural House. The condition of the roof is not good; during the current rains, water is leaking into the building in several places, said Mayor Patrik Kunčar (KDU-ČSL) to journalists today.
The investment will likely be divided into several phases. The parts of the roof that are in the worst condition should be repaired next year. "The advantage is that the roof is divided into 11 separate sections, which we can repair gradually. So we will start with the emergency sections and gradually continue until the entire roof is completed as soon as possible," the mayor stated. The investment will cost over five million crowns, and the city will find out whether it is possible to use any grant opportunities.
According to Kunčar, the roof was last repaired about 15 years ago. It is currently planned to leave the existing layer of asphalt, install a vapor barrier, add thermal waterproofing, and lay membranes. The town hall also considered a so-called green roof option, where the roof would be grassed. However, according to the mayor, this option is impossible mainly due to structural reasons and is also more expensive.
The city also wants to resolve barrier-free access to all areas of the cultural house; currently, only the main hall is accessible in this way, via a platform at the rear entrance. Barrier-free access should also be added at the main entrance, to the restaurant, foyer, and changing rooms. The adjustments are estimated to cost about six million crowns, but implementation is not expected for at least two years.
