Pardubice - The municipal organization Services of the City of Pardubice is considering building a parking garage in the area of the Summer Stadium. The plan is part of the overall renovation of the sports site. However, it is not a priority that is currently burdening the city concerning the stadium, said the Deputy Mayor Helena Dvořáčková (ANO) to ČTK after a meeting of the city council.

"The parking garage should be built there if Pardubice wants to be promoted to the top football league, as then the calculation of the necessary parking spaces is different," stated Dvořáčková.

The building is supposed to be located on part of the current, not very utilized parking lot. In addition to serving visitors of sports events, it would also serve the general public.

Some time ago, Pardubice commissioned a comprehensive study for the reconstruction of the stadium area and selected an architect for the renovation project. "From my perspective, there will need to be collaboration among several architects. Once the Services of the City choose their contractor, certain coordination should take place," Dvořáčková stated.

The reconstruction of the Summer Stadium and its surroundings in Pardubice is expected to cost around 300 million crowns, according to earlier estimates. The city hall is counting on state grants as well as private investments. A sports complex with a second league football stadium, additional fields, a hotel, and a riverside promenade is to be created.

Currently, there are two parking garages in Pardubice. The larger one is located in Karlovina near the center, with a capacity of 440 spaces, and is co-owned by the Pardubice Region, which owns two of the five floors, while the investor Petr Vašíček has kept the rest and rents it out. Another parking garage with 120 spaces is operated by Harmony Club in Polabiny.
