New facilities for recreationalists will be built at Kališovo Lake in Bohumín

Bohumín – Bohumín in the Karviná region wants to build a facility with refreshments, showers, toilets, and changing rooms by Kališovo Lake for the next season. This will replace the refreshments from the so-called containers that holidaymakers have used for the last two years. The city will pay 18.5 million crowns for the construction of the new facility in natural colors. This was announced to reporters today by the town hall spokesperson Jana Končítková.

"We were waiting for the end of the swimming season so as not to disrupt leisure activities and the summer enjoyment by the water. The original refreshments, made up of three containers, have already been removed. We will hand over the area to the construction company during September,” said Deputy Mayor Lumír Macura.

The facility will be over 200 m². "The showers will be outdoor, accessible from the terrace. The changing cabins will close with solid doors with a glass opening skylight. The washrooms with toilets will be naturally ventilated and illuminated,” said architect Jan Hock from the development and investment department of the Bohumín town hall.

The new facility is expected to be completed by the end of June next year. The designers have proposed the building in a simple natural design. The city has already connected the area to the water supply and sewerage, which will also be used by two family homes in the neighborhood aside from the planned facility.

"The building will be finished in shades of gray and light brown, and we will visually separate some functional parts with vertical wooden sunshades. The refreshment area will have two serving windows, and outdoor seating will be located under a covered terrace and partially on an open terrace," added Hock.

The city is also selecting a new operator who will provide refreshments to holidaymakers and take care of the hygiene part of the building. "The new facility should contribute to greater comfort for holidaymakers. In the future, we would like to also build swimming piers at Kališovo Lake and connect the area to the network of bike paths. Although we have strengthened the parking capacities around the lake in the past, we have again recorded a significant overflow of motorists this year. The construction of bike paths could allow part of the tourists to reach the lake in ways other than by car,” said Macura.

Kališovo Lake is a popular summer destination for recreation. People from Bohumín as well as residents from neighboring towns and villages visit the water there.
