Břeclav - Visitors to the Lednice-Valtice area in Břeclav will soon be able to view the restored Temple of Apollo. In recent months, it has been repaired for approximately 6.5 million crowns, said Petr Kroupa, head of the Brno Heritage Institute, to ČTK. The temple, along with other buildings, belongs to the so-called salets - historical structures that adorn the area. There are a total of 15 salets, which are popular viewpoints and tourist spots. The building, featuring a statue of the ancient god Apollo riding a sun chariot pulled by four horses, has been neglected for decades. The statues had to be transported to workshops and restored. Craftsmen secured the building against moisture and made a new façade. This week, scaffolding will be removed from the building. In the coming days, the installation of the statues is expected to take place again. The Temple of Apollo was one of the last neglected salets. Now, the Belvedere Castle requires repair, which the heritage authorities took over after years of disputes from a private tenant in recent months. The Lednice-Valtice area is currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of its inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the world each year.
