Trojanovice (Novojičínsko) - The Beskid village of Trojanovice in the Novojičín region continues to restore the Horečky recreational area, which it wants to return to its former glory and once again attract tourists. After repairing the amphitheater, public lighting, and constructing a terrain track, it has begun transforming the excursion restaurant Rekovice, which the municipality purchased and intends to operate itself. It hopes to open it to visitors by the summer holidays. This was stated today by the mayor of Trojanovice, Jiří Novotný. "It's not because the municipality needs to own a pub, but we want life to return here. The infrastructure plus the pub should serve as an impulse for that," said the mayor. He noted that in the past, there were accommodation capacities in the area of up to 300 beds. Currently, none of that is operational. However, according to the mayor, the site has potential to eventually open more currently closed facilities. The area is known mainly for its ski jumps, where Olympic champion Jiří Raška trained. Trojanovice purchased the restaurant along with the land from the cooperative for 1.8 million crowns. The renovation, which involves architects Kamil Mrva and Romana Mališ Bílková, as well as gastronomy expert and renowned chef Dalibor Navrátil, will initially cost six million crowns. The municipality will cover this from its own resources. The mayor said that the first phase of the renovation includes adjustments to the restaurant and its surroundings, without accommodation on the upper floor for now. "We primarily want to open the restaurant for the summer. We have a work schedule prepared for that," Novotný said. In the future, a children's playground or outdoor seating area is planned to be integrated into the nature surrounding the restaurant. Everything will be uniformly coordinated but also suitable for passing pedestrians or cyclists, as well as for local residents who will celebrate significant events there and for corporate meetings. The project thus addresses the operation of the restaurant, the interiors, and the building's appearance, as well as the concept of its surroundings. Local resources and suppliers should take priority in all of this. "I want to focus primarily on this region," said Navrátil, who wants to offer guests traditional local dishes such as buckwheat, millet, freshwater fish, or lamb. "Modern processing technologies will be used in a slow and gentle manner," he said. According to the mayor, the municipality wants to operate the restaurant itself because it has a certain vision and is concerned that a tenant would not fulfill it. Restaurants operated by municipalities are quite exceptional. According to Novotný, the residents of Trojanovice have sought advice from the mayor of the municipality of Strání in the Uherské Hradiště region, which undertook to operate a restaurant due to dissatisfaction with tenants. Under no circumstances should the restaurant incur losses. "This is a commercial project; we certainly do not want municipal money to be sunk into it. If municipal money were to be sunk into it, that would be wrong, and we would have to change the entire concept, of course," said Novotný. Trojanovice intends to continue developing Horečky. For example, they want to mark about 250 kilometers of tourist trails in the vicinity, all of which will lead through Horečky and guide visitors to the most significant local attractions. "The plan includes roofing the amphitheater. We want to illuminate the ski jump and turn it into a lookout tower and a kind of vertical museum of Jiří Raška," said the mayor. However, the municipality is not building anything on "greenfield." "We are actually assembling a brownfield here, which due to our negligence has deteriorated over the past 20 years. We want to restore it, and by improving the infrastructure and preparing the area, we want to attract investors for the buildings that are here, so that someone repairs and reopens them," said Novotný.
