Černvír - The covered beam bridge over the Svratka River in Černvír near Pernštejn Castle will be repaired. The bridge, made of fir wood, has spanned the river since 1718. It now needs some beams and the flooring replaced. The repair will cost about 700,000 crowns. The South Moravian representatives approved a half-million grant for its restoration.
According to Governor Stanislav Juránek, the bridge in Černvír is an extraordinary cultural monument. "There were several such bridges around Pernštejn, and three remain," he told ČTK.
The bridge in Černvír is listed on the registry of Czech technical monuments. It is 32 meters long and 2.6 meters wide.
The residents of Černvír repaired the monument 12 years ago, when it was covered with a new shingle roof. However, conservationists recommended further repairs two years ago. For example, parts of the purlins, which are infested with wood-destroying insects, need to be replaced.
The grant for the repair of the bridge was approved by regional representatives as part of a package of contributions to small municipalities. The region regularly subsidizes them. According to regional politicians, the municipalities have such small budgets that they would not be able to cover many investments or repairs on their own.
