Brno - In Brno, the opening date of the reconstructed covered market in Zelný trh, which was originally scheduled for June 20, will be postponed. The reason is the installation of internal stalls on the third floor, announced Pavel Bartošek, the lessor of the Tržnice Brno, in a press release today. He has not yet provided a new date, but according to him, the original date could be delayed by about two weeks. The city district of Brno-střed renovated the market for 50 million crowns. Inside, dozens of vendors will find facilities. Their assortment will complement the outdoor offerings.

It would only be possible to open part of the market on schedule. "The metal structures of the stalls need to be adjusted, and our supplier cannot guarantee the original date. We could open the second floor, but that would not be comfortable for customers or vendors, which is why we decided to postpone the date and open the market as a whole. It is the best solution," Bartošek stated. The city district agrees. "The lessor informed us about this situation and is showing great effort to actively resolve the matter so that the market can be opened without delay. We acknowledge the situation that has arisen and agree with the lessor's approach," said Jiří Švachula (ANO), the deputy mayor of Brno-střed.

Despite the postponed date, the passage between Zelný trh and the Old Town Hall square will open on June 20. "Representatives of the city district will ceremonially open the metal grate that separates both squares," added Kateřina Dobešová, spokesperson for Brno-střed. A festival of authors' fashion and design, MINT, will take place in the passage and surrounding area on June 20 and 21. Selected tenants will also present themselves through catering, and they will sell in different floors after the market opens.

The market's assortment will complement the offer of fruits and vegetables that Brno residents buy outside under umbrellas. They will get, for example, fish, meat, dairy products, or eggs. The highest floor will feature a coworking center, which is a space for various workers who operate independently. In the evening, the space will transform into a bar. There will be an observation terrace with a view of Zelný trh at the top. In the ground floor, there will be a café called Podobrazy. The town hall has previously also renovated the entire Zelný trh square.
