Kladno - The tender for the modifications of the center of Kladno is set to be announced in the first half of 2018. The transformation will involve the bus station, the pedestrian zone, and several streets. A request for a territorial decision for the pedestrian zone could be submitted by the end of August, while a separate contract is being prepared for the bus station. "Project work and review processes are currently underway for the bus station," said Kladno City Hall spokesperson Lenka Růžková in response to a query from ČTK today.
After the territorial decision, it is possible to apply for a building permit. "After completing all legislative steps, we can initiate the tender for the work, which we anticipate will happen in the first half of next year," Růžková said regarding the tender for the pedestrian zone. According to her, discussions are currently ongoing with the transport inspectorate about the configuration of Poštovního náměstí, which lies between the pedestrian zone and the bus station.
If no complications arise, work could begin in 2018. The value of the contracts will be in the tens of millions of crowns, and the exact amount will be known after the documentation is completed.
The pedestrian zone will feature new paving, and greenery is expected to be added. In addition to the pedestrian zone, the area in Plukovníka Stříbrného street and Tyršova street is also set to change.
At the bus station, the organization of bus operations will change, and the movement of passengers within its premises will also become easier and safer, with provisions for barrier-free modifications being planned. Amenities including a waiting area, refreshments, and a bike storage facility are expected to be added. The city also had to coordinate the concept with the owner of the Lidl store that borders the station.
Last year, Kladno announced architectural competitions for the modifications of both areas, with the planned projects now drawing from the best proposals.
