Šumperk – Next year, the programming of the House of Culture (DK) in Šumperk will be marked by prominent personalities, as the venue celebrates 45 years since its opening. The organizers promise major returns, as well as performances by personalities visiting Šumperk for the very first time. Michaela Horáková, the spokesperson for DK, informed ČTK about this. The largest cultural venue in Šumperk, which annually hosts prestigious Central European music showcase Blues Alive, is set to undergo extensive reconstruction in the coming years. The city has been planning this for several years.
"We consider the concert of the group Divokej Bill to be one of the biggest events of the first half of the year, which we have been trying to realize in Šumperk for several years. After a long 15 years, we have succeeded, so I can happily invite fans of this punk-rock band from Úval to the concert, which will take place on March 21," said dramaturg Ondřej Procházka.
DK will kick off the season with the theatrical comedy show Komikaze performed by a quartet of young actors led by Vincent Navrátil, Alexej Kolva, Ondřej Král, and Ondřej Kubina. The program-packed start of the year will also feature a concert by Pavel Žalman Lohonka and a recital by Jiří Schmitzer. In February, DK will host a recital by Lucie Bílá with piano accompaniment by Petr Malásek, and the organizers expect interest from the Šumperk concert debut of Kateřina Marie Tichá.
In March, Divadlo Járy Cimrmana will come with the production Africa, starring Vojtěch Kotek. The big hall of DK will also host rapper Otakar Petřina, known by the stage name Marpo. "Fans of Eric Clapton will once again be able to enjoy a concert by Cliff Stevens from the United States, who performs worldwide with a highly successful program paying tribute to this British rock legend," added Horáková. During the winter and spring of 2025, audiences can also look forward to a talk show by Ivo Šmoldas, the band Poletíme?, or a double concert featuring UDG and Xindl X.
The House of Culture, which hosts many events in Šumperk, is facing a complete reconstruction in the coming years. However, the start date of the renovation is still unknown. The building will be redesigned according to the architectural study by Petr Hájek. The architect envisions it as a representative pavilion surrounded by a park. Greater multifunctionality of the large hall, a new hall for club events, green roofs, and an interesting facade are planned. The project documentation has been entrusted to the designers from the Ostrava studio 38. The initial costs of the reconstruction were estimated at a quarter of a billion korunas, with the latest figures hovering around the amount of 400 million korunas.
