The new airport terminal cost over 98 million crowns. It can handle up to half a million passengers per year. The Karlovy Vary Region, which owns the terminal, received 80.1 million crowns from the European Regional Development Fund for the construction of the terminal. Architect Petr Parolek gave the terminal a futuristic appearance resembling a jet engine. The expert jury awarded second place to the new towers of St. Nicholas Church in Cheb, and third place went to the reconstruction of Hlavní Street in Mariánské Lázně. The jury gave a special recognition for "sensitive spatial design of the shaped residential object" to the multifunctional residential building Zámecký vrch, submitted to the competition by BAU-STAV, a.s. Karlovy Vary. Among the projects, the expert jury awarded a special recognition for "successful design of a transportation infrastructure object" to the Cheb Transport Terminal, which is being prepared by the Karlovy Vary Region. The public, which could vote online or today directly at the For Arch exhibition, also appreciated the project Bella Vista Residential Building, submitted to the competition by the company STP, k.s. Karlovy Vary, in addition to Hotel Prezident. A total of 16 buildings and six projects were submitted to the competition this year.
