Pasohlávky - The construction of the therapeutic and rehabilitation regional institute Sanatorium Pálava in Pasohlávky in the Brno region will cost approximately 40 million crowns more. This arises from the amendments to the contract published in the contracts register. Among the most significant financial changes are the expansion of the lifting system for immobile patients and the construction of a new transformer station with a capacity of 1000 kilovolt-amperes (kVA). Martina Žídková from the press department of the regional office said this today to ČTK. The sanatorium was originally expected to cost 784 million crowns excluding VAT, construction has been ongoing since the beginning of this year, and the region has received a grant of 289 million crowns from the National Recovery Plan. The therapeutic institute is set to begin trial operation at the start of 2026.

The first amendment published in September includes changes related to the system ensuring the elimination of the legionella bacteria in hot water distribution. Initially, disinfection was planned using chlorine dioxide dosing. At the request of the operator, a silver disinfection method will be used, which should also prevent excessive degradation of the piping systems. This will reduce the cost by 173,000 crowns. Another change concerns the foundation of the construction, which will increase the costs by 3.5 million crowns.

The second amendment published in November contains even more changes. The first concerns the construction of a new transformer station with a capacity of 1000 kVA. The reason is that the current transformer station is insufficient for the needs of the building and cannot be increased to the required capacity. Other changes include the expansion of the lifting system designed for transporting immobile patients and patients in critical conditions. This will increase expenses by more than 22 million crowns. Overall, due to the changes in the second amendment, costs will rise by 37 million crowns, and the completion date will be postponed by one month.

"The changes mainly arise from additional requests from the future operator of the sanatorium," Žídková stated. Workers are currently finishing the rough construction and are also building the air conditioning, sewage, and heating systems.

The institute in Pasohlávky will complement the backbone network of neuro-rehabilitation centers, of which there are currently three in the Czech Republic. It is intended to ensure follow-up care for patients after severe and critical conditions in the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, traumatology, and orthopedics. It will offer 214 beds and create jobs for more than 150 people. The contractor is Sanatorium Pálava VCES – SPIE Stangl. The region entrusted the operation and functioning of the sanatorium to its organization Jihomoravská zdravotní, a.s.
