Brno - The old halls in the vicinity of Černovická Terrace in Brno will begin to transform into a technological center next spring, where up to 6000 people could work. This is planned by the company Areal Slatina, which has already built several office buildings on part of the site. Now it wants to give a new face to another 20 hectares of land. The project will cost 2.2 billion crowns, said the company's investment director Petr Hladík today. The investor does not yet know who will operate in the area. Originally, there were plans for more offices on the land, but there is greater interest in the spaces of the technological park, Hladík stated. In recent years, tens of thousands of square meters of office space have been added in Brno, mostly to the south of the city center. Like Areal Slatina, it benefits from the proximity of the D1 highway and Brno's Tuřany airport. According to Hladík, spaces for the most demanding manufacturing are more promising. According to the architects' vision, nine buildings and technical facilities should be constructed on the vast site - four five-story buildings and five ten-story ones. The original Roučka foundry from the 1920s began to transform into a multifunctional complex already after the revolution. Currently, it has 25,000 square meters of storage, 15,000 square meters of manufacturing, and 13,500 square meters of office space. About 80 companies operate there, including computer firms Chicony and BGS Levi. After the completion in 2014, an additional 110,000 square meters of space will be available.
