With the subtitle "How to Prevent the Commercialization of Klementinum", eight students of Professor Emil Přikryl presented their final projects to the cultural public yesterday evening, in which they examine the capacities and spatial possibilities of the existing building of the National Library. From the "refreshing" of the current National Cultural Monument to working with programming and incorporating new masses or the growth of the "old", the analyses demonstrate an interesting result: the existing capacities of Klementinum are sufficient for the needs of the book collections of the National Library (in terms of turnover).
Among those present were some of the signatories of the January open letter by Professor Jiří Kotalík to the Prime Minister, mathematician Professor Petr Vopěnka, architects Professor Alena Šrámková and Professor Miroslav Masák, as well as member of the board of the Czech Chamber of Architects Jiří Merger, some architects, students from the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University, the University of Applied Arts and Charles University, and others.
Details and the student works of Ondřej Dušek, Martina Kárová, Marek Kopeč, Martin Kožnar, Anežka Martínková, Petr Souček, Ondřej Synek, and Petr Tej will be brought to you next week.
