On Saturday, June 30, 2007, a new operational building of the company Puls, which specializes in the development and production of electronic power supplies, was officially opened in Chomutov. The project, valued at 180 million crowns, has been in development since 2004 at the Munich office of Koch + Partner Architekten und Stadtplaner. The building, located in the industrial area of Chomutov, consists of three operations: in the two-story northern part is the management, which includes the main entrance to the building, development and office rooms, as well as social spaces like a kitchen/canteen with access to a terrace in the atrium. The warehouse section to the south runs parallel to the management building. The warehouse features high shelving, a packaging area, as well as a production and dispatch zone in the two-story section. The production area consists of two halls without internal columns situated between the administrative building and the warehouse. The two halls are connected by corridors through the atrium. The volumes of the administrative building and warehouse were designed to resemble an endless strip of aluminum sheet. The vertical front façades are clad in dark enamelled glass panels. Glass sun louvers are placed in front of the windows, which can be adjusted as needed. According to the architect, the external appearance of the building is meant to “signal progressiveness and the innovative strength of the company and its products.” Link>
