Chief of the East Bohemian Gallery dismissed due to criticism from the town hall

Hradec Králové - The Pardubice Region Council today dismissed the director of the East Bohemian Gallery in Pardubice, Martin Dostál. This decision was made in response to long-term disagreements between Dostál and the Pardubice regional government. The Czech News Agency was informed about this today by the region's spokesperson, Kateřina Nohavová. Dostál's comments are being sought by the Czech News Agency.
"The problem was primarily mutual non-communication, partly caused by the frequent absence of the director from the workplace," stated the regional council in its position. According to council members, the situation escalated on Monday when Dostál called a press conference and allegedly presented a series of false and distorted information there.
At the press conference, Dostál criticized the regional officials for poor work and violations of the law. "The region is violating the law. They selected architect Ladislav Lábus for the reconstruction of the buildings at the castle and the House at Jonah's without announcing a public competition. They should select from at least three proposals," regional Mladá fronta Dnes quoted Dostál's words from the press conference. People from the region are also reportedly sending complaints about him to Prague, claiming he is blocking the construction of a new gallery.
Dostál also told reporters that he is determined to resign as the director of the gallery next spring. "I want to complete several projects and I would resign in the spring. However, it may happen sooner after my statement," he said on Monday.
According to regional council members, Dostál's comments have damaged the reputation of the region, the office staff, and the East Bohemian Gallery. "The accusations that Director Dostál raised regarding the processing of the project for the gallery's reconstruction are untrue. The Pardubice region has committed no unlawful acts," the council members stated.
