Sokolov - The revitalization of the Sokolov housing estate Vítězná could begin this year with the construction of a new playground. The modern playground, worth 4.5 million crowns, in the courtyard on Spartakiádní street, is expected to provide play opportunities for both younger and older children. The original project considered an interesting architectural integration of the playground into the housing estate, but the city ultimately decided on a cheaper option with a larger number of play elements, said Sokolov Deputy Mayor Karel Jakobec (ODS) to ČTK.

"We prepared several options, which we gradually presented to the leadership and the council. In the end, we chose the fourth proposal, which came from the city development department. It's a sort of compromise between proposals that originally exceeded five million crowns. This one should be between four and 4.5 million crowns. We hope that in the tender we can reduce this amount to below four million," Jakobec said. In addition to popular swings or a castle with a slide, the playground will have a trampoline embedded directly in the ground, which is a feature that will appear in Sokolov for the very first time.

There were originally several playgrounds in the housing estate, but they gradually fell into disrepair or were damaged, and the city removed them. A large playground for children of several age categories will thus be a novelty in Vítězná. The housing estate, with 4,000 residents, is overall poorly equipped and outdated, and it should gradually undergo complete revitalization. According to Kristýna Greinerová's proposal, there could be seating near the senior home, an orchard, community gardening, or a dog park.

However, the biggest problem in the housing estate remains the lack of parking spaces and broken roads, which will require tens of millions of crowns to be invested in the coming years. Currently, workers have been working for the second year on the reconstruction of Vítězná street.
