Pec pod Sněžkou – In the Krkonoš mountain resort of Pec pod Sněžkou, an apartment complex called Svatá Barbora Wellness & SPA resort will be built. The investor is the company Fantastico, whose co-owner is entrepreneur Martin Kubík, who opened the Aparthotel Svatý Vavřinec in the center of Pec in 2018. The construction of the Svatá Barbora resort, located between the Pecr DEEP hotel and the U Kapličky guesthouse below the dam at the site of former tennis courts, is expected to begin in the spring. Representatives of Martin Kubík informed ČTK about this today. According to them, the total costs are several hundred million crowns.
"We have building permits and are about to start the selection process for the general contractor of the construction. We will begin building in the spring of next year and we would like to open in the first quarter of 2028," said representatives of the investor to ČTK.
The Svatá Barbora resort will consist of three buildings, two clad in wood and a Cubus house. According to the investor's representatives, the resort will feature one of the largest wellness centers in the Czech mountains, covering more than 2100 m². It will have sections named Water World with a pool, Sauna World with 21 saunas and attractions, and Mountain Spa. The design of the resort was provided by the OVA studio, while the hotel interiors were designed by the Formafatal studio.
The apartments will be sold to private individuals, and the operating company will then run the resort as a hotel. Future apartment owners will combine personal use of the apartment with income from its operation during the time they are not using the apartment themselves. This is the same concept as the already operational Aparthotel Svatý Vavřinec, which received the main prize in the first year of the Krkonošská architecture award in 2022.
The Svatá Barbora resort will also include children's playrooms, six halls and lounges for corporate events. The largest of these, the congress hall, will accommodate up to 230 guests. In addition, there will be a restaurant, fitness center, gym, underground parking, and a lobby with a reception.
In recent years, the center of Pec has undergone a significant transformation, with some old buildings giving way to new projects. For example, in 2020, the Grand Hotel Hradec opened on the site of the former Hradec Hotel for more than 300 million crowns. Further projects are also planned in Pec, including in the district of Velká Úpa.
