The organizers of the reSITE festival offer residents of Prague and its visitors the chance to experience the city in a different way. On Thursday, May 24, a large inflatable structure named Rosy— a multifunctional object from the Berlin-based art and architectural collective Raumlabor—will appear at the Piazzetta of the National Theatre. The pavilion, which can accommodate nearly 150 people, will officially open on Friday with a music conference of the Prague festival United Islands. This will be followed by urban games conducted by the energetic group I SPY, who will guide participants through the center of Prague in an unusual way. On Saturday, the heart of the festival will be at the Piazzetta of the National Theatre and Náplavka. The Partnerství Foundation is organizing a workshop focused on the revitalization of Prague's embankments—including their 3D modeling. Two bike rides will focus on Prague's neo-Renaissance architecture.
Families with children and students are invited to a unique urban drawing workshop. Saturday and Sunday will feature three discussions in the Rosy pavilion with young local and foreign architects like Matúš Vallo (SK), Eric Frijtters (NL), Petr Lešek (CZ), and Igor Marko (UK), who will discuss the future of public spaces in cities. Saturday afternoon is reserved for the biggest event of the weekend portion of the festival. The founder of the Norway-American landscape architecture firm Snøhetta, Craig Dykers, will give a free lecture at the New Stage. This will be followed by the Czech premiere of the internationally acclaimed film Urbanized (2011) by Gary Hustwit, with a discussion featuring Alexandros Washburn, the head of urban planning for the city of New York, among others. Náplavka in Prague 2 will transform into a temporary park for the entire weekend, offering culinary and musical experiences. The first edition of the reSITE festival will culminate on Sunday afternoon with a street tango.
