Trutnov – The Trutnov Town Hall will conduct a survey among residents of the largest housing estate in the city to find out how they envision the modification of public spaces. The aim is to determine what is most lacking in the Zelená Louka housing estate in the Horní Staré Město district before the planned revitalization. Representatives of the town hall informed ČTK about this. The housing estate has approximately 6,300 residents and was developed in the 1970s and 1980s.
The survey will be divided into three parts and is expected to take place this spring. In the first part, people will be able to express their concerns or suggested changes on the city’s website. "The second part will involve field research, where residents will be approached. Based on that, a paper and online questionnaire will be created," said town hall spokesperson Michaela Dědková to ČTK today.
The cost of the survey project among the residents of the housing estate is 232,500 crowns. The goal is to map the current use of the public space in Zelená Louka, identify both problematic and functional areas, and determine possibilities for improving the current state. "Thanks to the survey, we will obtain quality data that will serve for the architectural-urban study and the subsequent execution of specific projects," stated Dominika Potužáková, the winner of the tender for conducting the survey.
By the end of this year, the city wants to decide on further steps and the preparation of the architectural-urban study based on the obtained data. "The outputs will be available by the end of the year when we will present them to the public. Details about the survey and the entire project of revitalization of Zelená Louka will be gradually published on the city’s information channels," mentioned Trutnov Mayor Michal Rosa.
According to Dědková, the modifications in the housing estate could involve green spaces, furniture, playgrounds, expansion of parking spaces, path adjustments, or relaxation zones. Representatives of the town hall could not answer how much the entire project would cost. "We are in the initial phase; the survey among residents is step number one," said Dědková. She added that, ideally, work on the housing estate modifications could start at the end of 2023.
"Zelená Louka is a large and complex area primarily serving as a residential neighborhood. Its development over the last few decades does not meet the current trends of modern residential areas. For example, we would like to utilize the potential of the housing estate, which is surrounded by nature on both sides," stated Rosa.
According to him, the town hall does not want to approach the project with assumptions and suppositions but wants to gather information directly from the residents. "We are aware of numerous problems, but we are interested in prioritizing issues according to citizens," said Rosa.
Trutnov, with a population of thirty thousand, is the second most populous city in the Hradec Králové Region after the regional capital of Hradec Králové. This year, the city's main investment is the ongoing renovation of the Vesmír cinema, for which Trutnov plans to allocate 95 million crowns this year.
