A workshop focused on Pustevny began on Thursday, June 25, involving architecture students from Prague's ČVUT and Brno's VUT under the guidance of architects Zdeněk Fránek, Karel Janča, Kamil Mrva, and Svatopluk Sládeček. Their task is to develop the urbanism of the Beskid Pustevny so that it takes on an appearance suitable for the third millennium. One of the most beautiful mountain resorts in the country, associated with the buildings of Dušan Jurkovič, has long suffered from a lack of concept and unpredictability. Attention turned to Pustevny after the fire at the Libušín restaurant, a national cultural monument, in 2014. Now is an appropriate opportunity to give the area a character that reflects the spirit of the place: starting with the adjustment of the parking lot, bus stop, through the cultivation of sales stalls, outdoor benches, tourist trail signs, to the unification of path surfaces. Everything is designed with an eye toward low costs and the fastest possible implementation of projects.
The results of the creative workshop will be presented at the Koliba Valaška in Pustevny at an exhibition on Tuesday, June 30, starting at 10 a.m.
The workshop is organized by the Academy of Architecture in cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec and under the patronage of the mayors of the municipalities of Trojanovice and Prostřední Bečva.
