Jihlava - People are beginning to sign petitions against the construction of a commercial and entertainment park under the Znojmo Bridge in Jihlava. According to one of the petitions, the construction would significantly disrupt the composition of the historic center and its surroundings, and similar buildings should therefore be built on the peripheries. This is reported by today's regional supplement of the newspaper Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD). The city councilors in Jihlava have differing opinions as well. According to architect Jaromír Homolka, City Park should be halved so that it does not engulf the entire valley of the Koželužský stream. According to councilor Jaroslav Huňáček, also an architect, the land-use plan includes such a construction and no one opposed it during its approval process. "The investor has complied with everything required by the land-use plan," said Huňáček. City Park, which will include four cinema halls and several hundred parking spaces, is expected to start operating in 2008. It will employ 450 people, according to MfD.
