Prostějov - The Prostějov city council today, after a heated discussion, allowed a free exchange and sale of additional land for 9.5 million crowns in the industrial zone. The companies Solaris Tech and Dulwich Trade, which plan to build a photovoltaic power plant in the industrial zone, will relocate their project to a green field to make way for another investor.
"Why sell quality land where a concrete surface will be created? When the solar panels wear out, they will be collected, and what will we do with the concrete?" said Jiří Svatoš (ODS), for example. Some councilors attempted to postpone the final decision on the exchange and sale of the land to the next meeting, which they failed to do.
Deputy Mayor Vlastimil Uchytil (ODS) told ČTK that he considers the plan to be the best of bad solutions. "The plan of the new investor, who is a supplier for construction production, will employ up to 60 people," he stated.
The city of Prostějov reserved the right of first refusal for further dealings with the land in the contract during the exchange and sale. Although the land will be used in the industrial zone for the solar power plant within three years, there is no access road to them, and there are no other networks either.
A similar power plant for 30 million crowns with an annual production of 246 MWh has been operating for a year on the outskirts of Olomouc in the local part of Chválkovice. The solar power plant can supply electricity to more than 60 households. It consists of about 1,700 panels over an area of 7,500 square meters.
