Přerov - The representatives of Přerov today almost unanimously approved the sale of residential buildings in the devastated area on Škodova Street. The plots with the houses, including the tenants, most of whom are Roma, will be acquired for 1.5 million crowns by the company Immofin. They intend to demolish the buildings, relocate the tenants, and construct new multifunctional housing on the site. The meeting, which was attended in person by Minister Džamila Stehlíková, was accompanied by a tense atmosphere. About 200 residents of Přerov participated in it. "The area has been addressed since 1994. There are 81 housing units, of which 55 are occupied," said the deputy mayor Elena Grambličková (ODS). The exact number of residents of Škodova Street is, however, unknown to the city representatives. Some estimate that up to 500 Roma live here. They expressed primarily concerns about their future at the council meeting.
