Přerov - The residents of Přerov will see the completion of a large-scale reconstruction of Žerotín Square this year, which the city hall started four years ago. For the third and final phase, which includes new furniture and pavements, the city has allocated 6.3 million crowns. This was stated today by the spokesperson of the Přerov city hall, Bohuslav Přidal. "The third phase includes the completion of all repairs. It also encompasses landscaping and new public lighting. The square will be completely reconstructed afterward," said the city spokesperson. The city hall embarked on the renovation of the square in the city center in 2003 after the reconstruction of TGM Square. Since 2003, including this year's phase, the city has spent a total of 26.6 million crowns on repairs. With this money, the square has been completely repaved, new sidewalks have been constructed, new greenery has been planted, and residents have also received new furniture. According to city hall representatives, the renovation of Žerotín Square has been among the largest investments made by the city in recent years. There are a total of five squares in Přerov. T. G. Masaryk Square has already been reconstructed, and the city hall is also preparing a study for the modification of Upper Square. The city has long been planning the reconstruction of the neglected Freedom Square. Architect Zbyněk Ryška recently received the Petr Parléř Award for finding a solution to its modification. The last of the five is Přerov Uprising Square, where reconstruction is not currently being considered.
