Prague - Prague continues with the idea of renovating the historic building of the Old Town Market Hall and returning traditional markets to it. In recent days, it awarded a contract for the creation of project documentation for 28 million crowns. This was reported by ČTK from the public procurement newsletter. It is unclear how much the actual renovation of the market hall will cost. The market is located in an inner courtyard bordered by the streets of October 28, Rytierska, Perlová, and Na Můstku. The ground floor of this heritage-protected building currently functions as a shopping center. Individual shops and restaurants have been built into the historic building. For a regular shopper, the heritage value of the market hall is only highlighted by the decorated passage from Rytierska Street. Beyond that, people can only see a part of the roof structure of the building through the built-in walls and ceilings of the shops, which in one place reveals a glass ceiling. Prague wants to remove the built-in structures and restore food stalls and other goods in the building. "The returned purpose of the building will simultaneously allow for the restoration of the architectural value of the heritage-protected structure," the document, which has already been approved by the city council, states.
